Lu Andrews was the secretary for the architect Ralph Twitchell who designed this modest 900 square foot house for her in 1939 just prior to forming a partnership with Paul Rudolph. Over time and following several additions, the original design had become compromised and the structure was in poor condition. In 2008, this project changed the overall organization of the structure by adding an additional 900 square feet to the rear of the original structure.
The new organization transformed the original living area into the new master bedroom and creates a new living area in the rear addition. This strategy honors the original structure by maintaining its prominence as the front of the structure.
